Upper Merion Indivisible protested on Saturday June 6 against Citizens Bank
Upper Merion Indivisible protested on Saturday June 6 against Citizens Bank’s funding of ICE detention centers at the Bryn Mawr branch. We joined thousands of people across the country to send Citizens Bank a clear message: Financing private prison and immigration detention facility operators The GEO Group and CoreCivic is bad for business. The day of action included 125 peaceful protests in 15 states, including California, Kansas and all Northeast states.
We received lots of supportive honks from passing drivers (over 80 by one count). Our protest, along with the many others in Philadelphia and elsewhere, draws significant attention to this odious business practice of Citizens Bank: They have chosen to profit by the suffering of thousands of innocent individuals. The movement against Citizens Bank will only continue to grow.
